It's also possible to scan book pages, but there are tricky parts: you have to get the scanner far enough into the spine to get all the text. If scanning sideways across the page, the rollers fall off the edge of the page before the sensor do. So text that's close to the edge (like the page number) will get cropped. With some more modern books that have smaller margins, the text can get cropped too.Highlights: Works reasonably well and as you'd expect. A few areas of improvement: 1) The manufacturer should have 2 sets of rollers - one before the image sensor and one after so that if you're scanning something that has a lip or an edge, like a book, you can get a scan much closer to the edge by running it off a little. 2) Here's a bone-head thing: the scanner forgets ALL of the settings (B&W/color, resolution 300/600/900, PDF or JPEG)... I didnt need a huge scanner printer and don't have easy access to a photocopier so this fits the bill perfectly. It's portable, quick and very easy to use and not a whole lot of setup was required right out of the package. The 1 inch lcd screen isnt terribly helpful for previewing your scans and is pretty much only necessary for navigating the display/scan settings. However, I do have one actual complaint. The actual scanning strip is only 8 3/4" so scanning horizontal isnt possible for standard 8 1/2"x11" pages. That will create a problem if the binding of your book is thick and doesnt lay flat or perhaps is spiral bound, because the scanner itself casts a shadow on the page if you have to include the binding in order to fit all the text.I admit not all pages coming out looking neat, but I am using this for homeschooling one child so it's not a big issue us, but you might reconsider...
