The bowl of the lamp is made of what looks like cheap grade plastic. The pole section of the lamp came in three or four parts. One of those parts had a defective thread, so that the section which was supposed to be screwed on top of that one would not screw in straight or even all the way. Overall, the product felt like it was too cheaply made for the price. Due to mobility issues and sometimes being confined to the bed, I find this remote controlled lamp to be perfect for me. If you have any friends or family that have difficulty moving around, you could not go wrong purchasing this as a gift for them. Believing that I had been sent the wrong product from Amazon, I called the manufacturer (i.e., Adesso) directly and Customer Support confirmed that they stopped making the model of this lamp that did have a Dimmer on it, over a year ago. They were also upset that Amazon has NOT updated the "Product Description", since I was the 2nd phone call in a week regarding the lack of a Dimmer on the lamp!
